What personal data we collect and why

We collect different types of information about our users for the following main reasons:

  1. To provide an interactive web site where email is used to communicate with the users.
  2. To provide a security mechanism whereby we can restrict content to certain groups of users.
  3. To enable the purchase and delivery of goods through our online shop.
  4. To provide our users with a customised online learning experience

Our principles

We are absolutely committed to protecting your privacy. Our policy can be summarised in one sentence: we will not share your information with others ever.

We have established the following two principles:

  1. We will respect your email privacy. You will only receive email from us in relation to areas you have expressly signed up for.
  2. We will not share any individual user details (including your email address) to any third party ever.

What information do we collect?

We collect information on our users through registration and membership of our site.

The minimum information we need to register a user is your first and last name, email address and a password.

We collect information on our customers when you make a purchase through our shop.

We will collect your name, postal and email addresses.  Payment information is collected and processed securely through our payment provider, PayPal, and is NOT held on our servers.  View PayPal’s Privacy Statement.

Personal information that you choose to add to your online learning experience is also stored

This information is personal to you and other members cannot see this information unless it is posted on a public forum.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact Forms

If you submit a contact form we will keep this data while we process it and provide you with the customer service you have requested. We do not use the information submitted through contact forms for marketing purposes at any time.

Who will have access to your information?

You have control over who is able to access specific items of information. By default your information will NOT be visible to site users. You can change these settings from your personal profile page.

Website Hosting and Storage

Data from this website is stored and backed up securely to virtual servers provided by Google Cloud in data centres within the United Kingdom, in compliance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).  Backups are retained for a period of 30 days before being deleted automatically.

What else you should know about privacy

Remember to close your browser when you have finished your user session. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe. You as an individual are responsible for the security of, and access to, your own computer.

Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information over the Internet that this information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information in publicly accessible online forums, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your usernames and passwords and any account information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you are using the Internet.

Cookies Policy

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
